Beautiful, isn't it?
You know what? That's the beauty of it all.
Where do you capture love in your life? Is it with your partner? Is it in your job? Is it with your friends? What makes you happy?
This answer, for all of us, keeps developing over time. We grow older and wiser, and with that comes different perspectives on our happiness and where we get our happiness from.
Being a single, 20-something, college student, I can admit that I don't have all of the answers to these questions, but that's OK. Life can take us on some pretty wild rollercoasters, but I know that at the end of the day, I strive to live my life full of meaning, fulfillment, and happiness. THAT makes me love life. Through my job, my friends, my school, my blog, and everything in between, I know that when I'm putting forth my very best, being my truest self, and never giving up on what matters to me, that's when I feel the most rewarded; that's when I feel the love.
In honor of Valentine's Day, I wanted to dig a little deeper and share with you how I view love in certain areas of life. I hope you can relate and/or find a little wisdom. Enjoy! 💗
I love being in love. Who doesn't, right? Sharing your life with someone, allowing yourself to open up, being 110% totally you is one of the most fun, exciting and beautiful experiences. They're about falling asleep on the phone together, laughing until you cry, and missing them the second they walk away. They're also about compromise. Sharing your world with someone means that you think about their needs and aspirations, their hopes and desires. Their dreams become your dreams and vice versa. Love is, "Wow. I am so lucky to call you mine."
Being in love isn’t always about the happy times, though. It’s about unconditional love, no matter how far apart, or how close you are. It’s about loving each other through the dark, ugly, sometimes saddest times in your life. Every relationship has “hills” and “valleys” and the strong ones get through them both. That’s what my mom always taught me. ❤️ (And yes, moms are always right!) At the end of the day, “the one” is “your person”. When you know, you’ll know and never settle for something other than that.
"Your vibe attracts your tribe."
So true, right? MY GIRLS ARE MY EVERYTHING! Surround yourself with genuine, fun-loving, fabulous people. Your best friends will always be there for you on your toughest days, craziest nights, and everything in between. Wouldn't you agree that your besties are the ones that know how goofy and silly you are? I love it!
I love my friends ENDLESSLY. I swear we will be the little old ladies sipping coffee (or hot chocolate for me) on our porches laughing about all of the crazy things we used to do.
I've learned over the last few years that it's so important to invest time into things that truly matter to you. What are you passionate about? What brings you joy? Do things in your everyday routine that focus on these feelings. Whether it's 5 minutes of meditation or a nightly dance party, it's so important to take the time and energy to invest in opportunities that make you happy.
For me, my schooling, my job, my blog, outside activities, like volunteering, are all things that I invest in. I want fulfillment out of life. I want meaning. Take a moment to reflect on what already brings you this and what potentially could.
When you've found that right balance, that's love.
Happy Valentine's Day to all of you reading! Whether tonight is spent with your gal pals, your significant other, or enjoying a relaxing night in, I hope you have a wonderful day.
